The show

Press is a series of explorations. Each episode follows one story properly rather than skimming five: where a thing came from, who made it, what it cost, and why it still matters. Coffee and sound are where we start, but the ground is wider than that; food, rooms, print, and the culture that grows around all of them.

What makes an episode

Every episode has a turn: the fact that complicates the romance. The coffeehouse built the Enlightenment, and the plantations that supplied it were worked by enslaved people. Both are the story. We do not tell the flattering half and stop.

What's brewing
