You found this early. There is no shop to walk into, no blend to pour, no record on the platter yet. What exists right now is an idea, and this letter is the first thing built from it.

The idea is simple to say and slow to do. Do things with care, at the pace care requires. Pour the coffee slowly. Play the record all the way through. Keep the room warm enough that people stay and talk. Make things worth keeping, and credit everyone whose hands were on them.

12NinetyTwo is not a coffee company, and it is not a record label, though in time there will be coffee and there will be records. It is a standard we intend to hold ourselves to in public, applied to whatever we make: a journal, a monthly blend, a series of explorations, food reviewed the way we hear music, and eventually a room with a counter, shelves, and speakers.

Many forms. One standard.

None of it is finished. Most of it is not started. We are telling you that plainly because the whole point of this name is that we would rather open late than open thin. Each chapter arrives when it can meet the measure, not when a calendar says so.

What you can do now is small and enough: join the Thread below. It is one letter a month, written like this one, about what's taking shape and what opens next. No noise, nothing to buy, nobody is turned away and nobody is chased.

The kettle is on. Thank you for being early.
